Sparkle me Tilly!

Boo!  Didn’t you see me hiding behind that tree over there! I’ve been waiting for ages for you to find me!

No?  Won’t use that excuse for not blogging again then!

Welcome back, nice to mingle with you all again.  I’ve been so very busy with work and children lately its seemed a bit unfair to put that extra time into blogging my cards and entering challenges, but I’ve made a whole batch of cards lately that I am sure I will be able to entre into future challenges very soon.  Some of you may have already seen them on my facebook page.

So onto this challenge, a nice reliable site to come back with, Sketch Saturday.  I have kept to the sketch and kept it clean and simple.  Now if you follow me on Facebook, you’ll know that I’ve just discovered Magnolia Stamps! well not just, I did that while ago but I’ve purchased some now, well, lots!

They are wonderful stamps that you can mix and match with other images and really get you practising your techniques.  I have no technique lol!  I practiced on copy paper and nailed it, I did it on the ‘proper stuff’ and failed!  I went out of my mind! but i’ll show you those another time, you’ll have a laugh just like they did over on the Facebook page!

Anyway, here is my card for the Sketch Saturday Challenge, I didn’t have to mask or do anything fancy, I have come across these wonderful little die cut shapes that are screaming out for ‘Tilly’ to be sat on them, so used those instead!

YES! on this occasion I cheated!

I have coloured ‘Tilly’ using copics B12, BG05, V95, V15 and skin tones E000, E00, E02

Everything else has come from my craft stash!

Hope you like!

Hi all

This weeks challenge for A & T Digital Design is now underway, its all about ‘Chipboard’, follow the link here to enter your creation.  To be honest with you this challenge snuck up on me and I was completely unprepared!! I have had such a busy few weeks, my eldest son Sebastian had his birthday last week and now this Friday it is my baby boy Benjamin, he will be 3!  True to form mummy hasn’t done their cards, I did Sebastians the night before, I might enter that into another challenge so that you can see that too, quite proud of it!

Here is my DT card for A & T Digital Designs; you must pop over and see what the other DT members have done, some stunning work!

So, I’ve used none other than a Saturated Canary image and tried to keep it as boyish as I can.

Nope……. can’t do it!  Ben likes pretty things, so I’ve coloured him blue and kept the tones throughout but I’ve had to add flowers and of course embellishments using chipboard, so thats a butterfly then!  After spending a good 45mins picking all the tiny bits out of the butterfly (it was a little too thick for the calibur to complete the job) I have a beautiful embellishment, I’ve used Pearl green, blue and red cosmic shimmer powders to tint it and now its a shimmering beauty.  It was all going to end there, but then I came across the letters, ‘who put those there’, ‘I didn’t know I had them!’  Well of course now its all got to go on.

I have used the following pro markers to colour him up – Blue Pearl, Pastel Blue, Duck eggfor his hat, coat and boots.  Pastel Yellow, Tulip Yellow and Sunflower for his T-Shirt, Sandstone and Burnt Sienna for the wooden guitar, eyes and hair, and Warm Grey 2-4 for his tousers.

I distressed the ‘BEN’ Chipboard with Tim Holtz Broken China Distress Ink.

Papers are from Vanessa Arbuthnott The English Paper Company and cardstock is Stampin Up.

Flowers, ribbons and other embellishements are from my stash.

I loved every part of making this, knowing its for my little monkey so much love and effort went into it, I even had to dig deep into the christmas stamp box for the music notes.  Ben just loves music, and making as much noise as possible, I sense  a drum kit to go with that guitar!

I hope you have enjoyed looking at this creation, I am entering it into the following challenges;

So much to do, so little time!

So much to do, so little time!

Hi all!

Yep the title says it all! Just when you think you can see the wood for the trees……. I got up this morning on a mission.  Thankfully Sebastian had got up 2 hrs before me (normal) and finished his Jubilee Crown for Thursday, Josephine however got up 10 mins before we had to leave for school!  Sebastian has decided we all need to be in the car just before the school bus picks up outside, then its a race as to who gets there first.  Poor Josephine goes to school most mornings with the messy hair look, just as well she can carry it off!  Ben ususally gets chucked in his car seat as he is, shouting ‘you forgot my bama milk’ and Sebastian so deperate to win the race usually has his clothes on back to front if not inside out!  Oh its fun living in the Lucker residence!

So, school drop off complete, next stage is operation cakes, not only do we have to sort out crowns but we have to bake cakes!  All well and good if you’ve got all the ingredients!  Needless to say I had to dig deep, and what I did find had bugs on it! yuck! well if that didn’t commence a kitchen cupboard clear out.  The bin liner was so heavy I only just got it safely down the stairs and into the big bins outside.

Anyway cakes done, Josephines crown next! Strict instructions left on how it was to look! ehem! shouldn’t you be doing this yourself!  My kids own me!

I found a spare hour to finish my card and decide which challenges I was going to enter it into, was about to settle down and get the blog typed up! whoops! forgot about my meeting! 2hrs 30 mins later straight into a skittles match.  That went well by the way, 33 pins, I usualy get about 15! Thats put me as highest scorer for my team female!  So it’s now just past 11.30pm and I get to write my blog and enter today’s competitions!

So, I completed the Krista Smith image on Sunday evening and have been deciding what to do with her since.  It was going to have to be a loud card.

I’ve used the following to complete the card;

Pro-marker pens – Aegean, Azure, Royal Blue, Sunflower, Gold, Tulip yellow, Cocoa, Umber, Burnt Umber, Cinamon, Carmine, Hot Pink, Holly, Forest Green, (a few I have forgotten!)

Paper stock – DCWV Citrus Stack

Card stock – Stampin Up

Image – Krista Smith of Saurated Canary.

Sisterly Love!

Hello again!

It’s my birthday soon, well end of July!!! lol! But my busy schedule means I have to get family cards done asap! No I’m not making one to send to myself, it’s for my twin sister.

Funny I’ve done hers first, I have my two boys birthdays in the next 2 weeks and no where near sorting them out! Something to do with Krista Smith of Saturated Canary, truely amazing images and I just can’t stop playing with them! I’ve banned myself from looking at the newly launched shop for at least a month, that should land right on top of her new releases and just in time for my birthday!  Go take a look, click here for the link, you will not be disappointed.

I ran a scrapbooking class a few weeks ago and a friend left behind some scrapbook layouts.  I’m not really a scrapbooker however I do love to adapt the wonderful layouts into my cards, so all credit to ‘Twilight’ for the layout.

I have used pro-markers to compelte this beautiful image, doesn’t it remind you of playing across the bedroom with your sister passing secrets through the polestyrine cups?

I have used the following materials to bring this card together;

Image – Saturated Canary

Bunting – Die from Whimsy Stamps

Colour Pens – Pro-markers (sorry, so many I forgot to write them down!)

Paper stock – DCWV Premium Stack Citrus

Card stock – Stampin Up

Time for Smiles!

Hi again!

I’m pleased to report that I am finally getting back into the swing of things.  I’ve been very busy with work and school committments, that unfortunately fun times with the kids and peaceful crafting time was becoming very difficult to balance.  I spent most of last week with my children and enjoyed a weekend full of sunshine, water fights, sand pits and yes you got it crafting! Time for Smiles!

My design team committements have suffered too! However I’m back with this weeks challenge card, theme ‘Buttons’.  I went shopping today to Hobby Craft with my husband and children, we have scarecrows and crowns to get done by the end of the week and needed to stock up on sequins etc… I was very naughty and when my husband turned his back, I ran to the papercraft section, there staring at me and begging me to pick it up was the last Papermania Lucy Cromwell Designstax! I had to have it, it is stunning and packed with some beautiful subtle toned papers.  I’ve already found where I can get another and ordered it, I’m sure I will be dipping into this paperstax frequently.

I have used one of the famous Emerald Faerie Garden images and coloured her using pro-markers and flexi-markers. Pink and blue tones, aqua, aqua marine, denim blue, muted pink, coral, blossom and for the hair, cinnamon, cocoa, burnt umber and umber.

I’m pleased with the results and happy to share.

I am entering this into the following challenge

Evening all!

Wow! its been roughly 3 weeks since I last blogged, as I type this now I’ve no idea what entries this is going to end up in either! I’m sure I would have figured it all out by the time I finish!

I’ve been so busy with ‘life’ at the moment I haven’t had time to do what I love the most, but last evening to this, I’ve been determined to finish a card.  Quite pleased with it, what do you think?

The image is from ‘Make it Crafty’ and she is called Zoe all excited! I’ve been wanting to work with red for a while and thought Zoe looked racey enought for it! Still need to practise alot with dark hair, but as they say practise makes perfect!  I know most of you talented crafters are switching to Copics or already have, but I’m pro-markers all the way!

The colours I have used are for the hair, Sandstone, Cinnamon, Cocoa, Burnt Umber and Umber.  For the dress, Ruby, Red Berry and Lipstick Red, for the shoes, Warm Grey 3,4 and 4.

I am entering this card into the following challenges;

Evening All!

Has it really been that long since I last blogged anything! So unlike me!  In my defense I have been busy!  I made my Grandmother’s cards which are now safely at detination, Belize Central America.  I’ve also made 23 boxes (all the same) different sizes for my cards to be displayed at Caerleon Post Office, South Wales.  This weeks card that I made for the challenge is in transit to Australia to my sister-in-law.  My mother didn’t even wait for the glue to dry.

This weeks challenge is with A & T Digital Designs Sketch #3 and here is the card that I have done as a Design Team Member;

I’m just getting to grips with making my own flowers now and this is my first card with all handmade by ‘me’ flowers! Quite chuffed with it!

I’ve used Promarkers to colour the image  and added a little glitter for sparkle.  The sentiment is from Stampin Up and the papers are First Edition Papers.

I hope you can join us at A & T Digital Designs, I look forward to seeing your entries.

Dazzle It! – Challenge #22

Hello Everyone!

It’s been a busy Easter Term with the kids, taking them here and there, I didn’t think I would get my Design Team card done in time, just as well I’d prepared it earlier!

The Theme for this challenge is ‘Dazzel it’ with glitter, gem stones and pearlstones.  The image is an EFG digital stamp called Ally.

I have coloured her using promarkers and glittered her wings and the flower petals.

I used 3 beautiful fabric flowers with pearlstones as their centres to add a little extra ‘dazzle’.  All card stock and papers are from Stampin Up’.

Saturated Canary Challenge #14 Thinking of You!

Hi Everyone!

I didn’t think I would get this card finished and posted in time for the Saturated Canary challenge, but I’m pleased to say I did.  Krista was kind enough to give us (being her fans!) this image as a freebie.

I have a friend, Chris Deakin, who is running in the London Marathon this year and she is running to support Team PB, Prostate & Breast Cancer.  She has raised so much already.  As most of you are aware I own a Restaurant/Pub and Chris has been very supportive of us trying to make a living out of a very volatile industry.  About 70% of her fund raising has taken part at the heart of the village and hosted by my husband John and myself at our pub.  She has helped us boost moral within the village and together we have achieved some wonderful things and we’ve had lots of fun along the way.

I’ve created this card to thank her for her support and to let her know so many will be thinking of her and supporting her whilst she completes the run.

Here is a slideshow of how it all came together!

Here is the finished card!

I completed this card by colouring with promarkers, blossom, pale blossom, antique pink, cocktail pink, coral and muted pink. I used my air brush tool to shade the white areas around the image using Stampin’ Up Markers.  Embellished with Wild Orchid Cherry Blossoms and rose buds.  The sketch is a popular one from Sketch Saturday (I keep using it!), and the banner has been printed 3 times and decoupaged.

Thank you for taking a look.

I’ve had quite a productive day today, 2 cards so far, ok so they follow the same sketch but I like it and sometimes clean and simple is all you need.  I’ve also been busy with Josephine making paper roses, I’m really getting the hang of them now but wish I could make them without burning myself on my glue gun!!!!

Here is one of the completed cards.

I’ve used a Saturated Canary digital stamp, I cropped the image so that I only had her adorable face and cake! I’ve used promarkers to colour her in and then mounted her onto grey, black toned paper and card stock.  The sentiments are from the Stampin’ Up range.

Evening fellow blogger!

What a miserable day its been today! The rain has not let up at all, and shopping in it earlier was no fun either.

Anyway, I’ve come down to my craft room early this evening and all I want to do is craft, I dont want to be here rambling for ages! So…………….

I started this card last night and finished just a moment ago.  The image is of the adorable House Mouse, sitting under my favourite flower the ‘daffodil’, sheltering from the rain.  It’s been coloured using promarkers, buttercup and pastel yellow, grass green, standstone and blush. The Banner has been coloured using fleximarker honeydew and promarkers pastel green and soft green.

All the papers are from First Edition Papers, I like the combo of textured cardstock you get with the packs. I’ve also glittered the raindrops for a bit of happy sparkle!

Hello!

Bee Movie! Have any of you seen it?  I bought it for my kids a few years ago and they had it on replay for weeks, we have recently rediscovered it and yes, it’s on replay again!  Sebastian has had it hidden in his bedroom for a few weeks and forbidden Josephine to remove it, much to her dismay!

Anyway………………… Sebastian went for a 2 hour bike ride this morning, so Josephine put on her GI Jane guise and snuck in and took it! It’s now on replay in the living room GREAT!  The theme tune to it is ‘Here Comes the Sun!’ If you can’t think of it, think ‘M&S’ adverts at the moment!

Bee Movie has inspired my next card! I’ve disigned it for the A & T Digital Design Sketch Challenge #2, all the details are on their blog.

This is my finished card, I’ve used Eva The Honey Bee!

I’ve shaded all the edges of papers with Scattered Straw Tim Holtz Distress Inks, and used papers and card stock from my scrap box! Couldn’t resist the sentiment, let’s hope it puts a spring in our steps!  The image has been coloured using Pro-markers, Ice Grey 2,3,4 and Buttercup, Pastel yellow and Sunflower, wings pale citrus and then glittered.

It is also one of the first times I’ve ever worked with their range of digi stamps, I’ve bought quiet a few and can guarantee this years Christmas range will be coming from them.  You can find their full range of digi stamps here.

This digi is called Zoe Celebrates.  I need some practise on colouring hair, in my defense I started colouring Zoe in normal yellow light with my 2 yr old watching closely.  So closely in fact, I couldn’t see what I was doing!  I am still pleased with her though.

She has been coloured using Pro-markers and flexi-markers, the card stock is from Stampin Up and the papers were spares.  I took the sketch from Sketch Saturday Archieve, the image says so much I didn’t think too many embellishements were needed.

Wish me luck!

I’m so Happy!

Evening all!

Going to keep this post short and sweet today………….. well try!

We have had glourious sunshine today and made the most of it! John had to work until this afternoon so I casually got the kids fed and dressed and then forced them out the door! These computer games have got a lot to answer for……………………….

Anyway kicking and screaming we got the extensions and hoover out and cleaned that flaming car. If I sit in the back seat one more time and get covered in lord knows what, I’ll burst, now that the sun has come out to play I don’t want to wear dark colours and chocolate or mud or something sticky just isn’t a good look on white linen!

1 hour and empty polish and disinfectant bottles later, JOB DONE!

Now for the garden………………….. cleaned the pegs, cleaned the toys, moved the log pile and this time stored everything upside down so that they don’t collect water next time it rains! Tomorrow I’ll sort out the sunshades.

We completed our community clean up, Josephine given the choice of playing in the park with Louis (her school friend) or litter picking, and blow me down, she picks litter picking! ‘I want to use the grabby thing’.  We managed a leaflet drop too! and Sebastian dusted of his bike.  Where was Ben, well he had his noisey gun and pretty much chased everyone all day squealing with delight!  All of this makes me Happy!

GO TEAM LUCKER!

Thanks for staying with me, I’ll let you go now with my entry for this weeks Sketch Saturday Challenge and Passion for Pro-Markers.

This image was watercoloured, if I remember correctly I went to stay with my  mother for a week or so and couldn’t imagine not crafting so I took a set of stamps and the pencils since these were lighter to pack than my collection of pens!

Hope you like it, thank you for popping over again this week.

Hi there!

A friend contacted me last night to say a friend of hers had recently moved, so wanted me to make a card.  Unsure if I was going to make it to my craft room this week………. I took the order!  Well, you would have too wouldn’t you?

Ben took an early afternoon sleep today, so I got all my other stuff done and out of the way! (which was to bake all the desserts ready for our resturant on Sunday!) that has left me this evening to play in my craft room!

Normally I would like to find an image to stamp and colour however strapped for time, I’ve used a decoupage kit that I dip into every now and then, since it holds a whole range of images. I’ve embellished using a couple of paper flowers and colour co-ordinating buttons.

I’ve followed the current Sketch Saturday sketch, so I get to enter at least one challenge this week.

Welcome To the World!

Hello!

It would appear spring has definately sprung! The Lambs are growing big and strong as we witnessed this afternoon after picking the kids up from school.  Our local farmer was busy feeding his stock and we couldn’t help ourselves, we had to stop and go help!  Sebastian was a little apprehensive when the Farmer brought over one of the lambs but Josephine & Benjamin were so excited I thought they would pop!  Didn’t take our Ben long to anounce he ‘needed to go live with the lambs!’

Getting back on track, lots of my friends have had babies lately and some have discovered they are expecting, lots of exciting times ahead.  I’m not getting broody before some of you get all excited, but I thought it would be nice to make a few ‘new arrival’ cards.  This in mind Mothers Day is also around the corner, although the sentiment says ‘New Arrival’, I think you could quite easily use this image for a Mothers Day Card too. What do you think?

I recently followed a link to The Emerald Faerie Garden and fell in love with the digital images they have available, and blow me down with a feather, they are having a Design Team Call too!  So, I ordered all that I could (shh! don’t tell John!) and I’ve been busy ever since.

This card I can enter into their recent challenge of Wet/Dry embossing.  I’ve done Dry embossing and used their faerie ‘Isla’.  I have also used pro markers to colour the image and glittered the flower and wings.

Well, I must be off, got lots of images to colour!  Thank you for taking a look, and wish me luck for the DT Call! (that one will follow in a day or so!)

I’ve used Pro-markers to colour the image and embellished with lots of swirls and flowers.  The sentiment reads ‘You Make Me Proud’, a little difficult to read I agree but thats down to the cosmic shimmer dust and lighting from camera, it is otherwise very clear.

Won’t talk about the details too much, but image is from Joanna Sheen House Mouse Collection, the stamp set jumps from my mind at the mo, it’s a cutie, infact I’m sure I have half a dozen or so of this image already coloured in, hmmmm wonder where they are?! Anyway……. I’ve coloured it using pro-markers and then embellished using my vintage style roses, using the ‘wetting and scrunching’ technique!! and then dropped them in a bucket of glitter!

Hope you like.

New Beginnings

New Beginnings

Good Evening my dear Blog followers!

I’m pretty organised at my craft table today, I’ve had a look at all the challenges I wanted to enter and stopped to think about them.  Since I’ve very little time on my hands this week, I wanted to cover as many challenges as I could under one card.

This card will be entered in Passion For Pro-Markers ‘New Beginnings’,  Emma’s Crafty Challenge ‘Shades of Blue’, and Mo’s Digital Pencil ‘All my favourite things.’

I’ve made this card for a friend who recently had a baby boy, Congratulations Sarah & John.

Thank you for popping over and please leave your comments.

Afternoon Everyone!

It’s been a very busy week in the house of Lucker and I’ve not really  managed much ‘own’ crafting time!

I launched my own Crafting classes last weekend with a friend which turned out very successful but a very long and tiring day.

Last night after the kids had gone to bed and my Pub staff were all in on duty, I climbed into that little hole I call a craft room, caught up with the paperwork and got down to some serious card making………. I completed one! Don’t all laugh at once, like I was saying it’s been a busy tiring week!

I know I have finished it in time for the Sketch Saturday Challenge but unsure of the Saturated Canary Challenge, but I’ve entered them both, fingers crossed on time!

I used one of Krista Smith’s of Saturated Canary images ‘Steampunk’, I love her, although I’ve not used the whole image, it’s the dress sense that got me.

I’m off now to see if I can get another one done today.

See you later and thank you for coming over to take a peek.

Hello everyone!

I’m entering another Sketch Saturday Challenge, I like these challenges since you get to use any images that take your fancy.

I’ve chosen a Saturated Canary image, called Naveah.  She’s a beauty!

I’ve coloured her using pro and flexi-markers, added a few flowers and a wondeful fraying ribbon, I’m running out of this (shame!).

Papers are from K & Company and sentiment is from Crafters Companion SWALK range (stamp set 1).

Thanks for popping by

Remembering the Good Times…….

Evening all!

I’ve completed my task of another suitable card to enter into a challenge before bedtime!

None other that the wonderful Mo Manning Challenge #118  ‘Stitches, real or faux’.

Normally I go for a cutie image but this time I thought I would jump out of the comfort zone and use one of her element digi’s. A bucket of seashells, I thought it worked well with the sentiment.  It’s the sort of card I would send to either my brother or sister or a really old school friend!

I’ve used my pro-markers and flexi-markers again! glittered a few shell, added a ‘real’ stitched ribbon and ‘faux’ stitched the borders! I would normally stitch the card with the machine but unfortunately I can’t figure out how to change the bobin! duh! it’s new, I’ll get to grips with it soon!

Thank you for looking, see you all later in the week.

Strawberry Cupcake! – Add a little Bling!

Morning all!

I really do have the bug for these challenges at the moment! I like the way it keeps me on my toes and stops me from producing too much of the same thing!

I have crafted through the late evening into the early hours of morning and finally produced a card suitable for the Karber Challenge.

The recent cupcake images are so cute I had to get them all, so you will deffinately be seeing more of the Karber cards.

This month’s challenge is to add Bling! So I have added glitter, rhinstone, glossy accent and some beads – think thats enough!

Thank you for visiting.

Wow! 2 Blogs in 1 day! Thats good going!

This card is for the Sketch Saturday Challenge Blog #190, lets see how I get on!

I’ve used an image from Saturated Canary, she is called Violet.  Cutie isn’t she! I’ve recently discovered Saturated Canary and now have quite a few of her images in my collection of digi stamps. Kind of remind me of how I wish I was dressed as a little girl!

I do hope you like the card, there are lots more pictures to look at, I like to log my progression so take a look at my facebook page Cards By Lucinda, you can see the card coming together, and don’t forget to follow my blog and page to see more!

Thank you for coming to see me again today.

Love Is In The Air!

Good afternoon all you lovely people!

What a week it’s been for me so far, fantastic success at the Charity Quiz we hosted last night, to be fair my husband, John, did most of the work on this occassion but I did pull my weight behind the scenes.

John has taken our youngest Benjamin for a train ride today, whilst Sebastian & Josephine are in school and I thought that now food service has come to an end I would enter my next card into the next Challenge Blog I have on my list!

This time its the Crafters Companion Monthly Challenge blog, here’s where you will find it –  www.monthlychallenge.blogspot.com

Valentine’s day is just around the corner after all.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I’ve used the lovely Popcorn the bear Happy Anniversary stamp and used shades of pink flexi and pro-markers to colour it in. I’m really into Stampin Up’ design papers at the moment so, yep you got it, the papers featured here are from Stampin’ Up and since its a romantic card, I just couldn’t leave it without sparkle so added lots of glitter on the cushions and hearts.

Right then, I’d better get a move on, more cards and challenges to enter and a washing machine that won’t empty itself.

See you all again soon and thank you for coming over.

One for the Men

One for the Men

Hello again! I’ve been very busy this week.  I’ve managed a card a day so far, in between running a pub, washing, ironing, cooking etc, well not so much of the cooking, but you know what I mean.

Today’s card is for a male friend (yep another birthday in January).  He’s a bit of a computer ‘buff’ so this image I found at www.Mosdigitalpencil.com was perfect.

I’ve printed the image and coloured it using pro and flexi markers, I’ve not played with these markers for a month or so since I’ve been busy water colouring, but boy I missed them.

I’ve used a 6 in square card and cut the front panel in half.  I have matt and layered the inside panel and outside panel using Stampin’ Up paper and card stock.  To add a little dimension I have cut some paper ribbons and mounted using a deep foam tape and secured the image to the front panel.

If I did a card like this again I would probably use keypad buttons (paper ones of course) to embellish instead of buttons!  That’s what makes this so much fun every card is different!

Thank you for coming to see me again, see you soon.

It’s my other niece’s birthday at the end of the month, I have 5 and I have the most fun making their cards because I can stick to the cute range.

Isabella will be 4 and what a happy little 4 year old she is.

I have used an image from Crafters Companion range Patchwork Polly, stamped and coloured again using marker pens from Stampin’ Up and matt and layered using K & Company paper and Stampin’ Up card stock.

A little bit of glitter and fancy ribbon and you have a card suited to a wonderful princess.

Thank you for popping over, don’t forget to leave a comment.

2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 2,300 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 4 years to get that many views.

Tonic Studio Petal Pairs 3D Flowers Tutorial

Standard
Tonic Studio Petal Pairs 3D Flowers Tutorial

Hello all my dedicated flower followers!

Firstly I would like to thank you for popping over to take a look at my first ever tutorial.

I did originally set out to put this into PDF Format, however life is so busy at the moment you ladies would probably have had to wait another month or so, and as crafters, that’s just not good enough, we want it now!

This tutorial is by no means the correct way of doing these beautiful flowers, however after extensive research by myself I find this technique produces the prettiest and most fuller flower.  You should also note that I am not an employee of Tonic Studio nor do I actively advertise their sole products.

Once you have grasped the basics its down to you and your style and I’m sure you will be pleased with every flower you produce thereafter.

Lets get started.

Tools you will need;

  • Tonic Studio Petal Pairs Punch (however any flower punch resembling would be appropriate). If you don’t have a punch I would refer you to my page Cards By Lucinda, where for a small fee, I would be happy to send you some.
  • Glue Gun, this could be daunting to some of you so whilst you get used to the technique you may wish to use wet glue however it does take longer to dry and will not provide the sturdy body of flower.
  • Card stock no thicker than 220 gsm since most punches tend to struggle after excessive use.
  • Cocktail Stick,
  • Embossing tool, and
  • Embossing matt.

Firstly punch out 5 of the same flowers. Take two of these flowers and curl the petals around the cocktail stick.

Take your 1st flower holding the flower as I have in diagram, pop a blob of glue on petal.

Now bring it towards its adjacent petal and twirl it between your finger tips, until the glue is dry, (this should only take a few seconds).

Holding the flower again like I am in the diagram, place a large blob of glue over the 2 petals.  (This may sting from the heat of the glue, so please be careful!) You will also need to pop a blob of glue on the single petal at the bottom. Then wrap these 3 petals around the 2 centre ones.  Again twirl in your finger until the glue has dried.

You should now have your tight inner bud looking something like this!

Now pop a large blob of glue in the centre of your 2nd flower (the ones you curled around the cocktail stick).

Place your tight inner bud into the centre of the 2nd flower and press down firmly.  The excess glue should spill out the sides, wrap all 5 petals around the bud, the excess glue will secure these petals in place.

You should now have a larger bud!

Take your 3 remaining flowers and using your embossing tool, shape your flowers to a more rounded appearance.

They should look a little like this!

Turn them over, curls towards work surface!

Place a large blob of glue in the centre of one of your remaining 3 flowers and press the bud firmly into the centre, bringing the 5 petals up towards the bud.  The excess glue will secure the petals in place.  Do this for the remaining 2 flowers, using a little less glue each time.  The trick is to rotate each flower as you overlay so that the petals underneath can be seen between the top petals.

If you have anything like this, then my job here is done! If not, go back to the top of the page and start again!!!!

I hope you have found this useful. I look forward to seeing what you all come up with.  Please feel free to upload your pictures to my page Cards By Lucinda.  Please also send your friends here to pick up the tutorial.  Should any of you wish a little more help or have any questions please feel free to contact me via my page or leave a message/comment here and I will endevour to get back to you.

I would appreciate you becoming a follower of my blog and facebook page, since this is where I plan to post more tutorials, ideas and keep you up to date with how these are developing for me as a crafter!  I’ve lots in the pipeline!

Thank you once again and enjoy.

Catch up Lu your a bit behind!

Hello!

Well, I was all excited thinking yeay! I’ll blog and enter a challenge! lol! How wrong am I.  I’m a bit slow these days, having the kids home for their school holidays is causing me a bit of memory loss!

I sat down last night and followed a Sketch, I used a Magnoila Stamp, sat back and thought, ‘yep I like that’, I’ll go blog it! I didn’t read the rules properly, it was meant to be a Christmas Image!  Well I like it anyway so I posted it to my page.  Ok, lets start again, I don’t mind, like I said I liked the sketch.

Really proud of my next attempt although I couldn’t and still can’t find the sentiment stamp that I really wanted to use!  So let’s blog! Hang on a minuite this doesn’t look like the sketch I’m meant to be following! Scratch head, must have the wrong site! Double check, tripple check, steam coming from ears, I’m a day late! doh!

Anyway like I keep mentioning, I really liked the sketch, so instead I’m blogging both cards just to show the Sketch!

The first one is a Magnolia Stamp little Tilly I’m unsure of the name of this one, but its a real cutie. I hope you like it.

The second is an image from Suerya, she does lots of images for Make It Crafty.  The sentiment stamp is meant to have a little star at the top but I didn’t ink that bit properly! I’ve since put 3 pearl gems in its place and it looks alot better!

What do you think!

Thank you for humering me on this one.
